1. University of Cyprus
It is a public research university located in Cyprus which was established in 1989 and in 1992 first students admitted. Majority of undergraduate programmes were selected based on the entrance exam organized by the government and culture of the Republic of Cyprus, few seats are reserved for students with special needs. And the entrance exam has some eligibility criteria, only Cypriot citizens or those with at least one parent should be Cypriot origin.Teaching are mainly in Greek language, only a few are delivered Turkish and the study programmes are based on credit hours. In order to graduate from the university students should meet 120 credit hours.

2. Eastern Mediterranean University
It is a public research university which was established in 1979 based in Northern Cyprus and it was founded for the higher education in technology for Cypriots. The institution got the university title in 1986 and the main campus is located in Famagusta. Around 141 programs were offered from the university which includes undergraduate and postgraduate degrees and the main modes of instruction are Turkish and English. Students who need help in improving English university have an English Preparatory School and the motto of the university is “Virtue, Knowledge, Advancement”.

3. University of Nicosia
It is a private university which was established in 1980 located in Nicosia, Cyprus and initially it was an intercollege. The intercollege was converted to university in 2007 and it has a very huge campus, the motto of the university is “Think Big”. It is the largest university in Cyprus and Southern Europe with most of the teaching instructions are in english.

4. Near East University (NEU)
It is a private university which is located in Northern Cyprus which was founded in 1988. The university was founded by Gunsel in 1988 to provide higher education for the students in that area, initially the university had only two departments but now it has 14 departments. The faculty of medicine was established in 2008 and in 2007 a Museum of classical and sports cars was established with more than 140 cars on display.

5. European University Cyprus
It is a private nonprofit university which was established in 1961 in Nicosia, Cyprus. It is the oldest higher education institution in Cyprus and the university has a selective admission policy in which the university checks students past academic records and performance. In the school of medicine the subjects are taught in Cyprus and in the other courses the mode of delivery of subjects are mainly in Greek or English. This university is the first institution in Cyprus to introduce a school of dental degree in 2017.

6. Cyprus University of Technology
It is a public university located in Limassol, Cyprus and was established in 2004. The university took its first intake of students in 2007 therefore the official inauguration of the university was done in 2007. The university was established in the city to fill the gap in education and to offer degrees that are not taught in the university of Cyprus. The university is located in the second largest city of Cyprus and the university is one of the eight holders of European university of technology.

7. Cyprus Institute
It is a private research institution established in 2005 and it has five active research centers. The planning of the university started in 2000 and the university started operation in 2007. The university has developed as a science and technology educational institution to help the research community of Cyprus. The university logo consists of the name and mission of the institution, where the major outputs are research, technology and innovation.

8. Frederick University
It is a private university which was originally established in 1965 based in Cyprus. The university has two campuses in which one campus is located in the capital of the island Nicosia and the other is in Limassol which is the second largest city of Cyprus. The university was first established in 1965 as a school and in 1975 the institution started offering higher education programs as Frederick Institute of Technology (FIT). In 2007 FIT applied to establish it as a university and it became the first private university in Cyprus in 2007.

9. Cyprus International University
It is a private university which is in Northern Cyprus which was established in 1997 and it is an english language university. The university was established in Cyprus as a result of the higher demand for higher education in the English language. The university began with 81 students and 45 staff in 1997 and after 27 years, today the university has more than 20000 students and 1000 staff.

10. Girne American University
The university was established in 1985 in northern Cyprus, Kyrenia and it is a non profit university. The motto of the university is “We live through learning” and the founder of the university is Serhat Akpinar and he established the institution as an AMerican style higher education. The former name of the university was The American University, Girne and the university is a member of the Caucasus University Association.
