1. Charles University
It is the oldest and largest university in the Czech Republic and it is the oldest university in Europe which is still in operation. The university was established in 1347 which is located in Prague, Czech Republic and initially known as University of Prague. The university is also called Charles University in Prague and it is in the top three universities in central and eastern Europe. The university has 17 faculties in three locations Prague, Hradec Kralove, and Plzen and does not have a joint campus, the university is throughout the city.

2. Masaryk University
It is the second largest university in the Czech Republic which was founded in 1919 in Brno. It is the second university established in the Czech Republic and it is a public university. The university got the name in the honor of the first president of the independent Czechoslovakia and the name of the university changed to Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in 1990 but changed to its original name.

3. Czech Technical University in Prague
It is one of the largest universities in the Czech republic and the oldest institution of technology in central europe. It is a public research university in Prague, Czech republic established in 1707 and this university is the oldest non military technical university in Europe. The university motto is “Knowledge is power” and the university offers more than 130 degree programs in Czech and among them 84 are taught in English.

4. University of Chemistry and Technology, Prague
It is the largest university specializing in chemistry in the Czech Republic which was established in 1952. The university is also the leading chemistry research university in central Europe and it is the public university also known as UCT Prague. The university has more than 3600 students enrolled in the courses each year and the university has four departments. The university is rooted from the 18th century and became an independent technical university in Prague in 1952.

5. Brno University of Technology
It is a public university established in 1899 in Brno and the motto of the university is “Have the courage to be wise”. Initially the university was offering courses only in one field which was civil engineering and now the university has more than eight departments with two campuses.

6. Palacký University Olomouc
It is a public research university which was established in 1573 in Olomouc and it is the oldest university in Moravia. It is the second oldest university in the Czech republic and the university converted to public university in the 1770s. Initially the university was only offering courses in theology and later onwards as the university continued growing it extended the courses in the field of philosophy, law and medicine.

7. Czech University of Life Sciences Prague (CULS)
It is a public university established in 1906 in Prague, Czech Republic and it is a university for agricultural education. From the university the first agricultural engineers graduated from 1911 and in 1920 the faculty of forestry was established. In 1952 the institution became independent and moved to a new campus in Suchdol and the university adopted the current name in 1995. The bachelors and master courses are offered based on the credit system and the university offers more than 40 programmes which are delivered in English.

8. Mendel University in Brno
It is a public university located in Brno, Czech republic which was established in 1919. The university got the name from Gregor Mendel, who is a botanist and father of genetics. The university campus is located in the center of the city Brno which is the second largest city in the Czech Republic and it is the main campus, the university has another campus which is in Lednice where the horticulture department is located. The university includes a large botanical garden and the university’s forest are unique in the country and in Europe.

9.Technical University of Liberec
It is a public university which was established in 1953 based in the city of Liberec, Czech Republic and it was established as an Institute of Mechanical Engineering in Liberec. The university has seven departments and one specialized institute and the university offers courses in humanities, science and technical subjects and the university is a medium sized institution. The research programs are mainly focused on materials research, nanomaterials and the university courses are taught in English.

10. Tomas Bata University in Zlín
The motto of the university is “Educate and Create” and it is a public university established in 2001 in the Moravian city of Zlin. The university got the name from the founder of the shoe industry in Zlin called Tomas Bata and the university offers courses in six fields of studies. The history of the university traces back to 1969 as the institution was developed as a vocational college in Zlin and it became a part of technical university in Brno and the institution became a university in 2001.
