1. Vilnius University
This university is a public research university established in 1579 and it is the first and largest university in Lithuania. This university is the oldest and prestigious higher educational institute in Central and Eastern Europe. It was the third oldest university in Lithuania but it was closed during the war and resumed operation in 1919. The motto of the university is “From here the way leads to the stars”. The university hsa two campuses in Lithuania, one is in Kaunas and other is in Siauliai and it has more than 15 departments with more than 200 study programmes.

2. Kaunas University of Technology (KTU)
This university is a public research university established in 1922 based in Kaunas, Lithuania. KTU is one of the second best universities in Lithuania and the primary language courses delivered are Lithuanian and few courses are also delivered entirely in English. The origin of the university root to University of Lithuania and the university offers 56 that are entirely taught in English. The motto of the university is “Science, creativity, virtue!”

4. Vytautas Magnus University (VMU)
It is a public research university which was established in 1922 and based in Kaunas, Lithuania. This university was founded during the interwar period in 1922 as an alternative educational institution. The initial name of the university was University of Lithuania but the name of the university was renamed as Vytautas Magnus University, honor of Lithuanian ruler Vytautas the Great on the occasion of his 500th anniversary. 5. Mykolas Romeris University (MRU)
The university is a public research university which was established in 1990 has campuses in Vilnius and Kaunas, Lithuania. It is an international university that cooperates with more than 350 universities and the university enrolls more than 7500 students. The institution holds the name of Mykolas Romeris, a politician, scientist, and attorney from Lithuania.

6. Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (LSMU)
It is a medical school in Kaunas, Lithuania which was established in 2010 by the merging of Kaunas University of Medicine and the Lithuanian Veterinary Academy. The motto of the university is “Health for the Fatherland” and the university uses two hospitals for teaching purposes and they are the Hospital of Lithuanian University of Health Sciences Kaunas Clinics and the Kaunas Red Cross Hospital. The university has five faculties which are medicine, odontology, pharmacy, nursing and public health.

7. Kauno Kolegija
It is a higher education institution which was established in 2000 located in Kaunas, Lithuania. Kauno Kolegija Higher Education Institution’s past extends to interwar and postwar technical schools where the Pulp and Paper Industry School, founded in 1945 in Kaunas, gave rise to the current Faculty of Technologies. The courses in the institution were delivered in two languages separately: English and lithuanian.

9. Klaipeda University
It is a public university based in the Lithuanian port city of Klaipėda which was established in 1991. It is an autonomous science institution of the Lithuanian Republic and the highest authority of the university is council. The university campus was formerly a military campus and has been declared as an architectural monument.

10. European Humanities University (EHU)
This university is a private and non profit liberal arts university which was established in 1992 in Minsk, Belarus. EHU was forced to close the campus in Belarus and relocated to Vilnius in 2004. The university got an official grant from the Government of Lithuania in 2006 as a Lithuania University and offers courses in humanities and social science. As the university has restrictions in Belarus, the university offers degree programmes to the students in the location via online.
