1. Babes-Bolyai University
It is a public research university located in Cluj-Napoca, Romania which was established in 1959. The university was founded by the merger of Bolyai University and Victor Babeș University and the university got the name by the merging of the two universities. The University is the largest Romanian university with student enrolment and the language of instruction are Romanian, Hungarian, German, English, and French and only a few are delivered in Spanish, Italian, and Japanese only for masters programmes.

2. University of Bucharest
It is a public research university in Bucharest, Romania which was established in 1864. It is one of the oldest universities in Romania and also one of the five members of Romanian university. This university has been recognised as an advanced research and education university by the ministry of education and most of the programmes were taught in Romanian and English. The university campus is throughout Bucharest and the main buildings are the old buildings named the university square and Kogalniceanu building.

3. Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iasi (UAIC)
It is a public research university located in Lasi, Romania established in 1860 and the old name of the university was University of Lasi. It is one of the oldest universities in Romania and the motto of the university is “Through freedom to the truth”. The main university building is called University Place and the university hall served as a parliamentary debating chamber between 1917 and 1918, the hall is called “The Hall of the Lost Footsteps”.

4. Gheorghe Asachi Technical University of Iaşi
It is a public university located in Lasi, Romania which was founded in 1813 and the motto of the university is “Knowledge itself is power”. In engineering education it has the oldest tradition and traces its roots back to the foundation of the university in 1813. In 1993 the polytechnic institution of Lasi became the Gheorghe Asachi Technical University and the university has been consistently ranked in the top list of the universities in the world.

5. Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu (ULBS)
It is a public university located in Sibiu, Romania established in 1990. The university got the name from Lucian Blaga who was a philosopher and poet in Romania. The motto of the university is “Mind moves matter”and this university is the oldest university in Romania having more than 225 years of tradition. The university has nine departments and is mainly focused on philology, history and law.

6. Stefan cel Mare University of Suceava
It is a public research university located in Suceava, Romania which was re-established in 1990 but officially founded in 1963. As the university is open to all international students from the European Union the university is also regarded as an international university. The university was initially established as a higher education institution in Suceava which was founded in 1963 and got the university title in 1990 and it is also considered as the first higher education institution in Suceava.

7. Technical University of Cluj-Napoca (UTCN)
It is a public research university located in Cluj-Napoca, Romania which was founded in 1948. The university was initially established as Institute of Mechanics where the institute has only two departments which are Thermotechnics and Machines. In 1992 the institute was renamed as the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca and the UTCN is the second largest university in the city of Cluj-Napoca, Romania.

8. Transilvania University of Brașov

9.University Politehnica of Bucharest

10. West University of Timisoara
