1. National Taiwan University (NTU)
NTU is the most prestigious public research university in Taiwan founded in 1928 with the motto of “Integrity, Diligence, Fidelity, Compassion”. This university was founded during the period of colonization after the world war II the ministry of education recognised the university and renamed it to the current name on Nov 15, 1945. The root of the university belongs to the Peking university in Beijing.

2. China Medical University, Taiwan
CMU is a private university established in 1958 in Taichung, Taiwan as China Medical College and renamed to China Medical university in 2003. This is the first institution in Taiwan offering medicine and pharmacy programs by chineses professors. The university has 2 main campus which is in Taichung and Beigang and motto of the university is “Compassion, Prudence, Diligence, Integrity”

3. Asia University, Taiwan
This university is a private university in Taichung, Taiwan founded in 2001 with the motto of “Health, Care, Innovation, Excellence”. The university was started only with 17 departments and now became a medium size university with 28 departments. Initially the university was named as Taichung Healthcare and Management College and was renamed as Asia university under the Ministry of Education. AU has been ranked as one of the best universities in the world.

4. National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (Taiwan Tech)
Taiwan Tech or NTUST is a public vocational university located in Taipei, Taiwan founded in 1974 as National Taiwan Institute of Technology. This university was the first and leading higher education system in Taiwan’s technical and vocational educational system. The motto of the university is “Precision in work, sincerity in attitude”. Taiwan tech has five campuses and the main campus is located at Daan which is in the south of Taipei.

5. National Tsing Hua University
This university was founded in 1911 in Beijing and it is a public research university in Hsinchu, Taiwan. This university was first founded in Beijing and during the civil war the university stopped operating and later in 1956 NTHU was reinstalled in Taiwan as an independent university. The motto of the university is “Constantly strengthen and cultivate ourselves”

6. National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU)
This university is a public research university in Taipei, Taiwan established in 2021 through the merging of National Chiao Tung University and National Yang-Ming University. This university is one of the six national universities in research by the ministry of education. According to the world university ranking NYCU has been in the top three in the best universities in Taiwan. This university has been ranked in the top 300 universities in the world and the top 50 universities in Asia. the motto of the university is “Learn New Knowledge and Reach Far; Honor the Truth and Work Hard; Benevolent Mind and Art; Putting Knowledge into Practice”

7. Taipei Medical University (TMU)
This university was established in 1960 as Taipei Medical college and was renamed in 2000 as Taipei Medical University and it is a private university. TMU was one of the top universities in Taiwan and this university has consistently been ranked in the top ranked university. Dr. Shui-Wang Hu and Dr. Chien-Tien Hsu founded the university and the motto of the university is “Honesty”.

8. National Cheng Kung University (NCKU)
This university is a public research university located in Tainan, Taiwan founded in 1931. This university is best known for the studies of engineering, computer science, medicine and design programs. The motto of the university is “Pursuit of truth through exhaustive reasoning”. In 2005 this university was chosen as one of the seven universities for the Top University project.

9. National Taiwan Normal University
This university is a national comprehensive university in Taipei and established in 1922. 10. National Yunlin University of Science and Technology
This university is also called YunTech or NYUST, it is a university of science and technology in Taiwan founded in 1991. This university was changed to a technological university in 1997 and the motto of the university is “Sincerity, Honor, Perseverance, Originality”. According to the top university ranking Yuntech has been in 3rd place in the field of science and technology.
